Bangladesh Embassy in Paris Celebrated Victory Day & International Migrants’ Day-2016
Press Release:The Embassy of Bangladesh in Paris celebrated the Victory Day-2016 with due solemnity and fervor on Friday, 16 December 2016 on the Embassy premises. The International Migrants’ Day-2016 was also celebrated on the same day.
Bangladesh Ambassador to France H.E. Mr. M. Shahidul Islam hoisted National Flag of Bangladesh in the morning at the Chancery in the presence of Bangladesh community in France and Embassy officials. Recitation from the Holy Quran, the Bhagavad Gita & the Tripitaka, observance of one minute silence showing respect to all the martyrs of the glorious liberation war followed. The messages on the occasion sent by Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh were read out before the audience. On the occasion of the International Migrants’ Day, the recent statement of Hon’ble Prime Minister on migration was also read out before the participants.
The event was presided over by the Ambassador with the vibrant participation from different organizations of Bangladesh community including, politicians, businessmen, cultural, media & sports personalities, professionals, women activists living in France. A good number of Freedom Fighters took part in the program and they shared and remembered their experiences with participants, young generation in particular. The Freedom Fighters were shown respect by offering them Red Roses by the Ambassador & the Embassy officials. The freedom fighters expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the Embassy for recognizing their contribution to the War of Liberation.
In his speech, the Ambassador paid humble tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his leadership for the emancipation of the Bengali nation. He also paid tribute to the valiant freedom fighters, who made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the independence of Bangladesh in 1971. The Ambassador stated about the clarion call by Hon’ble Prime Minister in materializing the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of building a Golden Bangladesh. He highlighted the contribution of the expatriate Bangladeshi people in our economy, making Bangladesh is one of the fastest growing developing countries in the world with an average 6.3% GDP growth. He expressed that Bangladeshi Diasporas played a very important role by sending back a part of their earnings to their motherland.
Among others Sheikh Md Ali, Mr. Md. Jamirul Islam Miah, Mr. Abdul Motin, Mr. M. A. Kashem, Mr. Mohsin Uddin Khan Liton, Mr. Md Abul Kashem, Mr. Sohrab Ali Mridha, Mr. Md. Mojibor Rahman, Mr. Mintu Md Chowdhury, Mr. Shahed Ali, Dr. Abu Sayeed, artist Shahadat Hossain, Buddhist scholar Rev. Jyotisar Shraman were present at the event.
A special prayer session seeking Almighty Allah’s blessings for eternal peace of the soul of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the other martyrs and also for the peace and prosperity of the country, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The participants were entertained by Bangladeshi food at lunch time. A good number of expatriate Bangladesh Nationals living in France enjoyed the entire program.
